A Silver Spring duo crafting cinematic synth-pop scores for films that don't exist yet, blending chamber arrangements with futuristic electronica and improvisational texture.

Full bio

Novparolo exists in the liminal space between scored cinema and live improvisation. Based in Silver Spring, Maryland, the duo of Winston Psmith (guitar synth) and Bev Stanton (keyboard, groovebox) has spent recent years building a catalog of imagist electronic work... performance pieces that sound like scores to films that don't yet exist. Their music evokes wind-swept vistas, dream-like worlds, nocturnal cityscapes, and vast reaches of space—not through descriptive lyrics but through the precise architecture of synth and guitar interplay. What distinguishes Novparolo is their commitment to structure without heaviness: where conventional chamber pop or electronic music might lean on driven beats, Novparolo allows gentle futuristic electronica to guide and shape the compositions, creating breathing room for each melodic gesture. They've played Electronicafest multiple times (most recently in 2025), performed at Artomatic and Electric Maid, and live-scored silent film classics for library audiences. Their discography spans everything from chamber pieces to live recordings captured in Baltimore venues, with releases spanning Duckspeak (2017) through La Nova Normalo (2020) and recent live documentation. They continue to rehearse and develop material regularly, maintaining the improvisational spirit that defines their live work.
